Returning Reapplying & Requirements

LET'S DO THIS

Welcome Home

Sometimes, life takes unexpected paths. We’re here to help you finish what you started.

You Are Considered a Returning Student If…

You were enrolled at the University of Arizona as a degree-seeking student and meet any of the following criteria:

You left in academic eligible status, academic review status, or academic warning status and have missed more than two regular consecutive semesters.

You left in academic probation status or ineligible status and have missed at least one semester.

You withdrew and received “WC” grades and more than two consecutive semesters have passed since your withdrawal.

You dropped all of your classes and no grades appear on your record for that semester.

You are a graduating student, or have already graduated, and wish to continue as a degree-seeking student.

Before You Begin

You may register for classes without reapplying if you were enrolled last semester, then withdrew and received grades of “WC” or you did not receive a 100% refund.

Did you leave in eligible, academic review, or academic warning status within the last two semesters? Check to see if you qualify for Back2UA.

If you are applying for readmission after three years or longer, you may be eligible for our GPA forgiveness program called Second Start.

Here's How to Apply as a Returning Student

STEP 2
Finalize Your Details and Submit Your Application

A complete application also includes payment of the application fee, which is $50 for Arizona residents and $80 for non-Arizona residents or residents of other U.S. states. This application fee is non-transferable and non-refundable.

Please note that fees may vary for Near You Network locations and Arizona Online.

Unsure if you qualify to apply as an Arizona resident? Learn more about residency classification. If you do not live in Arizona but you are a member of one if its 22 federally recognized tribes, you may qualify for resident status by completing the Native American Residency Classification Exception [PDF].

If you attended the university last semester and meet certain criteria, you may qualify for Back2UA and be eligible to enroll in classes without submitting a new application.

Undergraduates seeking readmission after three years or longer may apply for the Second Start Readmission Program. When applying through Second Start, your application and prior academic record will be reviewed by the academic college offering your program of study. If you are accepted into Second Start, all grades earned prior to your absence will be disregarded in your cumulative GPA except for courses with a grade of C or better, which will continue to fulfill your degree requirements.

STEP 3
Send Us Your Transcripts

STEP 4
Get Excited

Once your application is submitted, it typically takes about 2-4 weeks to receive a decision if you left the university in good academic standing. If you left on academic probation or disqualification, the process takes 4-6 weeks because your application will also need to be reviewed by your academic college of choice. Be sure to check your Future Wildcat account for status updates on your application.
