How One Student Built Experience, Friendships, and Her Résumé

Aubrey came to the University of Arizona from the East Coast because it had the resources and opportunities of a large research institution with the close-knit community of a smaller school. And she hasn’t looked back since.

Aubrey started as an undecided major who didn’t know many people, but she quickly found her place in the Eller College of Management. Over the years, she made new friends, landed an on-campus job, and participated in several experiences to help build her résumé.

Now that Aubrey’s about to graduate, she has her sights set on a career in marketing. But before that happens, she’s revealing some insights into how other students can get career-ready at Arizona.

What experiences at the University of Arizona helped you get ready for your career?

The Eller College of Management hosted many career fairs, résumé and cover letter workshops, and networking opportunities where I was able to find an on-campus job and internship that have set me up for success during my job search.

What advice would you give to new students?

Get involved early. It can be scary to apply for clubs, jobs, and internships during your first year of college, but everyone at Arizona is so supportive and wants to see you succeed. You will be so grateful that you put yourself out there.

What is one interview tip that you have to share?

Always write a follow-up thank you email after an interview.

What are your post-graduation plans?

I am taking some time after school to move back home and travel before starting my career.

How are you feeling about your future?

I am nervous and sad to leave my college friends, but I feel well-prepared and excited for my next adventure!
