Advancing the Mission
Acquiring UAGC enables the University of Arizona to provide thousands of more students access to a high quality, world-class education – students who otherwise might not have the opportunity. With UAGC, the university advances its land-grant mission and makes a bigger impact on the world.
Meeting a Growing Need
In Arizona Online, the University of Arizona already has a Top 10 online program. By acquiring UAGC – which has its own infrastructure and funding model already in place – the university is able to more rapidly meet a national need and educate many more students a lot more quickly.
Building a Revenue Stream
In an environment of decreasing higher education funding nationally, universities must find new ways to fund programs and retain excellence. In the future, a successful UAGC will provide additional resources to help the University of Arizona best serve its students and drive benefits across the state of Arizona and beyond.
Online Initiatives
The University of Arizona named Gary Packard Jr. to serve as the interim Senior Vice Provost for Online Initiatives in December 2023 to oversee UAGC and Arizona Online. This alignment will ensure consistent strategic oversight and coordination of the university's online initiatives.
